Alyssa Abrams, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Alyssa Abrams is an associate veterinarian at Coal Mine Animal Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from St. George’s University in 2012 and holds a Master’s degree in Ecology. She is also Fear Free certified, with a special interest in client education and supporting pets through every life stage from first visits to geriatric and end-of-life care.
Dr. Abrams path to veterinary medicine began with a lifelong fascination with animals. Unsure at first whether to pursue veterinary care or ecology, she chose to explore both, which deepened her understanding of the natural world and strengthened her commitment to animal health.
She shares her home with her energetic Vizsla named Tabu and a California King Snake named Mr. Creepers, who has been by her side for more than two decades.
Outside of work, Dr. Abrams enjoys spending time outdoors camping, skiing, and hiking. Her greatest joy in life is being a mom, and she proudly considers her daughter to be her most beautiful accomplishment. She’s also a dedicated foodie who loves trying all different types of food from different cultures.
